Plant and Equipment

In 30 years, Treescape have developed an extensive and specialist fleet, worth in excess of $25 million. This custom designed fleet allows our crews to deliver a service that is highly versatile, covering everything from the most basic arboriculture requirements, to larger, more complex projects.

Treescape have earned a reputation for the development of rugged machinery which is required for heavy arboricultural clearing work, whilst also never losing sight of the importance of smaller, precise equipment for use on more confined and sensitive sites.

To ensure our fleet is maintained in top working condition, Treescape operate four mechanical workshops throughout New Zealand. Treescape's main workshop is based at Head Office in Auckland, and is the hub of Treescape's fleet fabrication and modification operations.

The Auckland workshop is where plant is tailored for the specialist arboricultural applications, and usually, several safety features are added to the fleet as part of the modification process.

Treescape applies a 'Safety First' approach throughout all aspects of our fleet workings, from design conception to its subsequent day to day utilisation out in the field.

MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms)

Essential for powerline clearing, sites where there is restricted access, and on jobs where intricate pruning is required.

Treescape operates New Zealand’s largest and most modern fleet of purpose built arboricultural MEWP units.  All our truck mounted booms are insulated to either 46kv or 69kv (dependent on model) allowing safe and compliant work completion around power lines.

Elevated Work PlatformThe working height of the booms ranges from 10 metres to 21 metres, and most units operate with over-centre articulation, an innovation which dramatically improves productivity.

Each truck is built with large storage lockers and a tipping chip bin (of between 8 and 12m³ capacity) to further maximise onsite capacities and productivity.

All units are fully kitted out with insulated hydraulic pole saws, pruners and all accompanying safety equipment, including road signage and cones.

Tip Trucks and Specialist Cartage

Collecting and delivering mulch, firewood, waste and fill to all corners of the country. Diverse enough for use on everything from narrow driveways, to major construction sites.

Mulch Delivery Truch

Whether it's a 6m³ capacity, compact 4x2 light truck used on street tree maintenance contracts, or a 30m³ capacity, 8x4 bulk tipper for utilisation on large development sites, every  truck has had design modifications to meet its specific needs.

With over sixty tip trucks in operation, Treescape's in-house fabrication workshop is busy ensuring each truck is both well maitained, and suitable for every site application.

Treescape also operates an 8-wheeler with a 30m³ tipping body, perfect for the removal of wood and chip from larger sites.

Chippers

30" Chipper

Chippers cut up trees and vegetation into tiny mulch chips, which are great for residential gardens and landscaping or forestry projects. An essential piece of kit for most work sites.

Treescape's chipper fleet is large and diverse, and range from mobile 35hp 6" units which are towed by our residential crews, to our stunning new 750hp tracked 23" whole tree chipper, ideal on forestry sites and larger projects.

The chippers make light work of breaking down trees and vegetation into a mulch product that can then be used in landscaping projects, so nothing is wasted.

Chipper grapple attachments add another dimension to chipping function, and are handy when site access is difficult, such as on banks and steep gullies.

Excavators

Not only essential on projects where major earth moving is required, but with a range of grapple and mulcher heads to choose from, Treescape's excavators can be used for a multitude of purposes.

Treescape Excavator

Treescape's fleet of yellow Komatsu excavators range from an agile 0.8 tonne to powerful 30 tonne models. In 2014, Treescape were one of the first two companies in New Zealand to purchase a HB215LC-1 Hybrid excavator (read more), designed to reduce environmental impact without compromising performance.

Using grapple attachments, an excavators main functions multiply. Some attachments are designed to manoeuvre large pieces timber with safety and accuracy, others saw huge logs in awkward locations that may be too dangerous for crews.

Hydraulic mulching heads can also be attached to12-30tonne excavators, efficiently mulching material up to 8" in diameter.  An excavator-mounted mulcher head is the ideal tool on awkward terrain, where the slope of the land makes it impossible for any other vehicle to access.

Stump Grinder

Stump Grinders

Used to reduce or eliminate old tree stumps. Ideal for small gardens and large land-clearing sites.

Treescape's wide range of stump grinding equipment includes larger-scale excavator-mounted units, as well as smaller self-propelled grinders ideal for use in more confined residential situations.

Tree SpadeTreespade

Essential for moving and removing special and significant trees.

Treescape's 84" six-spade Vermeer tree spade is the largest example operating in New Zealand. Mounted on a truck or excavator, it is capable of transplanting trees up to 300mm in diameter.

Rather than ending the life of a tree, Treescape's tree spade opens up options for clients to consider either relocating, or removing and returning a tree to it's original location once required the land work is complete.

Tractor and Excavator Mulching

Tractor Mulchers

Ideal for large scale land-clearing projects

Treescape's 4WD tractors each have an FAE fixed flail attachment that mulch standing trees and scrub. Makes light work of large areas for clearing.

Tub Grinder

Commercial mulch production

Tub Grinder

Our Morooka Tub Grinder can grind 60 to 80m3 of mulch per hour, gobbling all kinds of vegetation and transforming it into tiny chips. The mulch produced from this machine, is ideal for any kind of landscaping work, with high volumes of it being used on motorway planting or stream and river revegetation projects.

It also allows Treescape to divert some green waste from landfill, which is better for the environment, and allows us to give clients the most competitive pricing.
