About Treescape

How two chainsaws and a VW beetle became an industry leader.

Our humble beginnings have now lead to 17 branches across New Zealand and Australia, with more than 600 people engaged in a broad range of different roles.

When we started, we focused on two main things:

  • providing on-call tree services, and

FAQ

About Treescape

What does Treescape do?

Treescape specialises in Arboriculture and carry out several different services from council tree maintenance and utility line clearance to ecology and rail vegetation management.

What can Treescape give me?

Treescape is a company that can provide job security, first class training and career progression and takes safety and innovation in the industry very seriously. We can provide you with the right tools, equipment, and training pathways to help you further your career in Arboriculture.

Training Pathways

What is a Training Pathway?

A Training Pathway is created around your chosen sector of Arb and ties in all internal and external competencies/qualifications you require to be able to work and progress in that profession, i.e., a Climbing Arborist would have the ability to start as a trainee and progress through 3 Arb Certificates and onto a Diploma if they wanted.

Who are the external providers we use for training?

We use several external providers including WINTEC, Primary ITO, Conexxis, Growsafe and Competenz.

How long does the training take?

Training would vary depending on your chosen profession, but some can run between 12-18 months per certificate.

How much a trainee is paid?

$20.5/per hour whilst in training and once you are qualified the pay will be reviewed.

What certificates do we issue and how it is related to NZQA?

– For the Arb school you will be awarded a National Certificate in Arboriculture Level 3 (NZQA Credit based).

– For the Utilities School you will be awarded a National Certificate in Electricity supply (utility Arboriculture level 3) (NZQA Credit based).

– For Forestry Felling/Machine Operation you would be awarded a Level 3 Certificate in Forestry Felling or Machine Operation (non-Production)

We also have other qualifications, including those needed for HighRail (KiwiRail Contract) works and Spraying/Grounds Maintenance.

Do we assist (financially or in any other way) for school leavers/new employees to receive an NZQA Qualification?

Treescape cover the cost of all training required to carry out your job, including being paid when you are away on a day’s or week’s training course.

Qualified Arborists with experience

What is the pay range?

It is not easy to specify, everything is dependant on the qualification, experience and skills.

Criteria and Visa Support

What are the criteria to become a trainee? Do you take NZ Residents/Citizens only or consider someone on a work visa?

We currently only take NZ residents or citizens as the trainee pay criteria does not meet the requirements of the visa.

Any special requirements on English? (i.e., IELTS or similar?)

No, you would just need to be able to speak clearly and be able to understand it

Do we provide any visa support for Qualified Arborists?

Dependant on experience and qualifications we can provide a job offer to help you with your visa application.

We can also consider providing more support, but this would be very much dependant on NZ immigration rules around skills and experience.
