Ecological Technician Team Lead - Kumeu

Description

We are looking for an experienced Ecological Field Team Lead to carry out the delivery of ecological plant and animal management work for a range of contracts across Auckland region. The key purpose of this role is to manage a small team in the delivery of a range of services across Auckland. These services include pest plant control, revegetation planting, animal pest control and monitoring, and amenity planting and maintenance. You and your passionate team of Field Technicians will be working outside in nature on some behind the scenes projects which make a real difference to Tamaki Makaurau’s natural environment.

A typical week will include

So much variety! The range of environments you’ll find yourself in will change daily, and there is lots of equipment to play with, so having experience with small equipment, agrichemical handling, and drones would be advantageous. Meeting client targets is a must, requiring you to be highly organised with great leadership ability. You’ll be using technology to help you and have the support of our in-house training team and a great team of senior managers who will help to shape your career.

Your skills and attributes

  • Exceptional people skills and professionalism with a safety-focused attitude, maintaining key client relationships and your internal team of technicians
  • A high level of physical fitness and ability to handle a demanding role
  • Minimum of three years’ experience leading teams in the field
  • Solid experience in the delivery of revegetation planting, plant and animal pest/environmental management, and native plant and weed pest identification
  • First Level GrowSafe Certification, Level 8 qualifications in a related field, and Chainsaw NZQA certification/s would be an advantage
  • Competent in the use of handheld devices, technology, and small machinery
  • Practical drone experience is advantageous
  • A full clean NZ Driver’s License (ability to drive a manual vehicle and 4WD off-roading driving is advantageous)
  • A valid First Aid certificate

The fine print

  • To be eligible for this position you must currently be living in NZ and have a legal right to work in this country (i.e. NZ Citizenship, be a permanent resident, or hold full working rights)
  • Candidates will be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing, a medical exam, and Ministry of Justice checks as part of the recruitment process (at Treescape’s cost).
  • This is a permanent and full-time position working Monday to Friday 40 hours per week. Additional hours and flexibility are generally available.
